Zenithal Prime
Prime the model black using Black Game Color sprayed or brushed all over. Then apply a zenithal highlight from above with White Game Color to establish light and shadow before painting begins.

Paint the coat with Dark Reaper. Paint the trousers with administratum grey. Keep thin, even coats to preserve the zenithal shading underneath.

Gloss Varnish and Oil Wash
Apply a coat of gloss varnish to the entire model to protect the paint and help the oil wash flow. Once dry, apply a dark brown oil wash all over (Winsor & Newton Burnt Umber works well). Allow to fully dry, then clean off excess with a brush dampened with mineral spirits, leaving the wash in recesses.

Re-establish highlights on the coat by layering Dark Reaper over raised areas, then blend up to Thunderhawk Blue on the highest edges.

Highlight all metal areas with a chrome or bright silver of your choice to pick out edges and details.

Carefully highlight the lenses by layering Mephiston Red over the dark base, then apply Evil Sun Scarlet on the brightest areas, and finish with a tiny dot of White in the top right corner of each lens to simulate a light reflection.

Banner Eagle NMM Gold
Paint the banner eagle separately using NMM technique. Basecoat with a dark brown, then work up progressively lighter layers towards Dorn Yellow. Catch all sharp edges and highest raised details with Dorn Yellow. Finally, apply a thin wash of a yellow of your choice (warm for a rich gold tone, cooler for a more bronze feel) over the whole eagle to unify the blends.
