CODE OF CONDUCT
Vault40K is a safe place to share painting work at every skill level — from first base coat to Golden Demon entries. These rules keep the archive welcoming, honest, and respectful.
All skill levels welcome
Whether you are posting your first tabletop-ready squad or a competition piece, you belong here. Constructive feedback is encouraged; gatekeeping and mockery are not.
Share work-in-progress, finished models, and recipe attempts. The archive grows when painters feel safe showing up as they are.
Only post work that is yours
Submit photos and recipes for models you painted or schemes you developed. Do not upload someone else's photos and pass them off as your own.
If you share a derivative scheme or heavily reference another painter's recipe, credit the original author in your post.
No copyright infringement
Do not post content you do not have the right to share — including stolen images, unlicensed artwork, or material that violates Games Workshop or other rights holders' terms.
Vault40K is a fan-run community archive, unaffiliated with any games or paint manufacturer. Keep fan content within fair-use community norms.
No nudity or explicit material
Miniature photography must stay suitable for a general audience. No nudity, sexually explicit content, or gratuitously graphic imagery.
When in doubt, crop, angle, or choose a different photo before submitting.
No foul or abusive language
Keep titles, descriptions, comments, and profile text free of slurs, harassment, hate speech, and excessive profanity.
Disagreement about paint choices is fine. Personal attacks, bigotry, and sustained hostility are not.
Be truthful about how work was made
Do not present AI-generated images as hand-painted work. Label techniques, proxies, and digital edits when they are part of what you are sharing.
Brand criticism happens; organised brand-bashing campaigns and bad-faith pile-ons do not.
When rules are broken
Moderators may remove content, issue warnings, or suspend accounts that violate this code. Repeat or severe violations can result in permanent removal from the archive.
If you see a problem, contact the admin team. We review reports in good faith.
