Prime Black
Prime the entire model black. This provides a dark base that will show through in the deepest recesses and underpin the subsequent blue tones.

Base Coat Macragge Blue
Apply a solid base coat of Macragge Blue over the entire model. This establishes the mid-tone of the armour.

Airbrush Shadow Mix into Recesses
Mix Kantor Blue and any black paint at a 1:1 ratio, then add a few drops of any purple paint. Using an airbrush, apply this mix into the shadow areas and recesses to deepen the shadows.

First Zenithal Highlight – Teclis Blue
Using the airbrush, apply Teclis Blue to the upper surfaces and areas that will catch the light from above, creating the first zenithal highlight layer.

Second Zenithal Highlight – Teclis Blue & Lothern Blue Mix
Mix Teclis Blue and Lothern Blue at a 1:1 ratio and airbrush onto the highest upper surfaces and strongest light-catching areas to push the highlights further.

Seal with Gloss Varnish
Apply a coat of gloss varnish over the entire model. This protects the airbrushed layers and provides an ideal surface for the oil wash to flow into recesses.
SHADE
Black Oil Wash
Apply a black oil wash over the entire model. Once dry, clean off the excess with mineral spirits, leaving the wash sitting only in the recesses to further define the shadows.

Contrast Glaze – Ultramarine Blue
Thin Ultramarines Blue contrast paint for use in an airbrush and apply a diluted coat over the entire model. This unifies the transitions and adds colour depth across the armour.

Edge Highlight Dark Areas – Macragge Blue
Using a fine brush, apply edge highlights of Macragge Blue to the edges located in or near the darker shadow areas of the armour.

Edge Highlight Light Areas – Teclis Blue
On edges in the lighter upper areas, apply Teclis Blue highlights, blending them into the adjacent Macragge Blue dark-area highlights to create smooth transitions.

Sharp Edge Highlights – Lothern Blue
Apply Lothern Blue to the sharpest edges and upward-facing edges across the model for a bright, crisp final highlight.

Dot Highlights – White
Place a small dot of white paint on any upward-facing corners to create the most intense point highlights, giving the armour a polished, dynamic finish.
